On February 20, 2017, Jessica Woodruff suffered the unspeakable when her barn caught on fire in Rosenberg, Oregon. The fire took the lives of four goats and a pig. And her beloved dog Daisy, a Great Pyrenees and Border Collie mix, lost her litter of three-week-old puppies.

Jessica tried to sprinting down to the barn, but it was too late. She held Daisy back as she tried to run into the burning flames for her babies. “It all happened within minutes,” Jessica told InsideEdition.com. “It’s horrible.”

She thinks the fire was started by a heat lamp keeping the litter warm.

Daisy mourned all seven of her puppies. In the wake of the tragedy, she became depressed and refused to eat. But perhaps the most heartbreaking thing of all was when she would walk herself down to the barn in the following days, sit down by the door and whine.

Jessica wanted to do whatever she could to help Daisy cope with her broken heart. So, she took to Facebook to see if there were any local puppies who needed a foster home. A woman named Lorna Murphy responded.

Lorna’s five-year-old dog, Chloe, died shortly after giving birth to a litter of eight adorable black and white puppies.

Lorna and Jessica set up a meeting, and Daisy was brought over to meet the litter.
