The streets of New York are full of restaurants, bars, skyscrapers and..dogs! Anyone who’s lived or visited New York would know this is a city full of canines and the people who love them. But where did all these dogs come from? This week on Pulse our host and card-carrying dog owner Jess Westberg examines the paradox: while shelters are full of unwanted animals, there’s also an extremely high demand for pure-bred dogs in boutique pet stores. To get a handle on the issue, Westberg talks to pet-store owners, a full-time Animal Rescuer and an American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) spokesperson. Should you adopt a dog or buy one? Watch and decide for yourself.

The city’s heartbeat is out there, pumping the Who, What, When, Where and Why that drive the most interesting, newsworthy and often controversial topics we tackle each week on Pulse. We take to the street and give ordinary people a chance to sound off and be heard. From politics and health to privacy and communication, we’ve got our finger on the Pulse. Wednesdays on the new BreakThru Radio.
